Born at Versailles, August 23 1774
Fathers death ( Louis XV) died 1756 made Louis XVI heir to the throne.
Ruled France from 1774-1791
He was a roman catholic.
Louis XVI was well intentioned and wanted to improve the lives of his people, but he lacked the ablility to make hard decisions as a king.
He had more of a negative effect on the country because he didn't know how to run the kingdom and put the country more in debt than it already was.
He was most famous for his courage and dignity on trial but it left him with a better reputation than he deserves.
